This Licence qualifies someone to work as both a Door Supervisor and as a Security Guard and covers the basic tasks, objectives and legal responsibilities. With a Door Supervisors SIA Licence you can work in many areas of the Security Industry from Security Guarding through to Event Security and other licensed premises so you would be increasing your opportunities for extra employment.

Under the Security Industry Act 2001 anyone working as a Door Supervisor in licensed premises must be licensed by the Security Industry Authority. To qualify for a licence as a door supervisor you must have a recognised qualification and this qualification satisfies the legal requirement. The fines for working as a Door Supervisor without an SIA licence are up to £5,000 and/or up to six months in prison.

 

Course Details

Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.

The HABC Level 2 Award in Door Supervision has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).  It is based on the relevant SIA Specifications for Learning and Qualifications and provides the learner with the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a Door Supervisor within the private security industry.

The qualification is comprised of 4 mandatory units:

Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry
Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor
Unit 3 – Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry
Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
This qualification can enable the learner to progress onto the NVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry such as CCTV Operations or Security Guarding.

Assessment

Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry

40-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40.
Examination duration – 60 minutes.

Unit 2 – Working as a Door Supervisor

45-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 32 out of 45.
Examination duration – 75 minutes

Unit 3 – Conflict Management for the Private Security Industry

20-question multiple-choice examination paper.
Successful candidates must achieve a score of at least 14 out of 20.
Examination duration – 30 minutes.

Unit 4 – Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry

Ongoing practical assessment throughout the course by the tutor.
True or False question test, marked by the course tutor.

Training is provided by Tutors with over 20 years experience in the industry.
