This Licence qualifies someone to work as a CCTV operator and covers the basic tasks, objectives and legal responsibilities for working in public space surveillance.
Under the Security Industry Act 2001 anyone working as a CCTV operator in public space surveillance must be licensed by the Security Industry Authority. To qualify for a licence as a CCTV operator you must have a recognised qualification and this qualification satisfies the legal requirement. The fines for working as a CCTV operator without an SIA licence are up to £5,000 and/or up to six months in prison.
This course will consist of 3 units:
CCTV control room principles are assessed by means of an externally set and marked multiple choice test, which will be administered by the centre. The test will provide the only necessary assessment for unit 1 and will cover the whole of the assessment criteria for that unit.
CCTV Control Room Practices is internally assessed. Centre assessment will be verified through the national standards sampling process. Practical application of the assessment criteria in a realistic scenario must be used and cover all the assessment criteria for the unit.

Emergency Procedures in a CCTV control Room
Unit 3 Practical Assessment
Training in the use of the actual CCTV system
Assessment by the Tutor
The 4 day course involves a thorough training session using a PowerPoint presentation and includes two multiple-choice exams. There will then be a scenario based assessment which will be assessed by the tutors. The awarding body is Highfield awarding body of Compliance
